Location Choices
I live in Sarasota, Florida, a destination known for its great beaches. Personally I enjoy going to the beach every so often with friends. So when my group was discussing cross cutting my first idea was to have one of our characters on the beach. Siesta Key beach we decided is where the first shots of our movie would take place.
The second location was Viktor bedroom/bathroom. I figured this would pair well with the other character freshly waking up. Creating a night and day contrast between the two character. This would also show the personality of the two characters. At first glance you may assume the first character on the beach is more studious or productive as he is reading a book. Whereas his friend is just waking up and wants to go to a party instantly. This allow the characters to instantly start creating viewpoints of the characters right off the start.
The third and final location we used was The Ritz Carlton
Hotel located in downtown Sarasota. We needed a third mutual spot for the characters to meet at which is where the hotel came into play. There may have been other options we could have used but they all would have served the same purpose of just being an area we walked around at so there was not much need to put a lot of thought into it.
A issue that may have occurred with using the hotel is that it was too nice of a background. The nice area presented may seem like a place where it is less likely a person drink can be tampered with, but at the same time, is that not the biggest point of the issue of drug tampering, the fact that it can happen at any moment.
